The unique cellular structure of Pressure-Treated Pine has a deep penetration of preservatives, making the wood protected from fungi, termites, insects and the weather. The treatment could protect the wood up to 15 years!! The Runners are Handmade and have been Sanded but are Unfinished and Not Drilled. The bottom of the Rocking Chair Runners have been treated with Thompson's WaterSeal for EXTRA protection from the weather. You need to drill it to your exact specifications. You can also use a small nail to attach each leg to the holes in the runners but the glue is easy and looks better. I tried it both ways on my Rocking chair.
