Supervisory Attorney

Works with and supports Federal law enforcement agencies and U.S Attorney Offices on the investigation and prosecution of certain aviation-related criminal matters. Manages litigation of Agency enforcement actions before the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the DOT Office of Hearings and assists the Department of Justice with aviation enforcement proceedings in Federal district court.Serves as the first-level manager for enforcement attorneys and support staff assigned to the Miramar Enforcement Practice Team. Reports to the Deputy Assistant Chief Counsel for Enforcement. Supervises all matters handled by the Team including providing legal counsel and advice to inspectors on:
regulatory requirements; investigations; the certification of airmen, air carriers, and air agencies; and the Agency's compliance and enforcement program.Assigns enforcement work to attorneys and support staff. Provides coaching, mentoring, and training to staff attorneys and all other employees who conduct activities within the manager's responsibility. Sets priorities, and works closely with attorneys to identify and implement effective strategies consistent with the FAA's policies. Incumbent evaluates and rates the performance of subordinates; approves leave; and takes, recommends, or approves disciplinary and corrective actions that involve subordinates.Monitors activities to ensure progress, and evaluates and provides timely information, including quantitative data about case processing to senior Agency officials.Routinely interacts with officials within the Agency, at the Department of Transportation Office of Inspector General, and the U.S. Attorney's Office in connection with enforcement cases and programs. To qualify for this position, ALL applicants MUST meet the following criteria:
(1) have a JD Degree from an accredited law school;(2) be admitted to practice before the bar of any U.S. jurisdiction or within the District of Columbia;(3) be an active member of that bar; AND(4) demonstrate at least one year (52 weeks) of SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE equivalent to the next lower grade/pay band (FG/GS-15/FV-K) that is typically related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organizationSPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as experience directing and executing plans, programs, policies, or projects in a professional or legal environment, and in handling enforcement and legal policy issues.You should include relevant examples of the specialized experience in your work history. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
